I’d upgraded my “Desktop Box” earlier and I fell into the choice maze “Intel or AMD” and
ofcourse I was very interested in the 64bit approach as my work will be improved and go faster with this architecture.
After searching long I discovered the fact that the AMD is faster and more reliable than Intel Processors and really I was amazed with the Performance.
My Current Configuration as follows:
Single CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 939 socket
1024MB DDR RAM Running on a dual channel 128 bit
1 SATA 2 Harddisk Western Digital 7200 RPM 160 GB with 3000 Mb/sec channel speed
1 ATA 133 Harddisk Seagate 7200 RPM 80 GB
Disks are setuped as RAID 1 Mirror using Software RAID Support by Linux
Mainboard nVidia nForce i-DNA optimized for X2 Processors
nVidia GeForce 6100 256 Mb Built-in Graphics Card
Realtek High-Definition Audio Controller Built-in
External Sound Blaster Live Value! Sound Card
Gigabit Ethernet by nForce
IEEE 1349 Firewire Controller and Port
Sony DVD Reader/Writer.
I’ve tested the Windows x_64bit Edition and really this “thing” is awful, Very bad support with loosy performance and ofcourse the thing that made me SHOCKED!, is that it doesn’t have any ANTIVIRUS Available!!!
So Proudly I’ve removed this thing and installed the amazing Fedora Core 5 for 64bit Version “x86_64″, with awesome performance at Both processor speeds 1000Mhz and 1800Mhz, with terrific graphics performance (thanks for nVidia Driver for Linux).
RAID 1 (mirror), was made for my backups and it’s working very very fine with excellent performance under linux.
so I really really recommend using AMD because Intel SUCKS. and Great thanks for people who told me more information about the AMD Processor.

Al slam 3likom, Ahmed and every one…
about your new desktop dear Ahmed, i want first to congratulate you that you are now a member of the family of users who are using AMD processors (and no more weakly Intel processors)
I’m also have your desktop configuration same as you exactly
but this time i have my new desktop (this one) from more than 6 months [june 2006], really Ahmed this machine so strong, you can’t believe that this computer runs [NFS Carbon] with its full features with amazing view, and also its speed and the reliable performance with all applications (on Windows and Linux as all).
But, (about the Operating sys.)
Here is MY Advice to everyone have a machine like this
If you want to work on a 32bit operating system, [Don't think] about any thing from Microsoft. (i think you will be satisfied with MS Windows XP professional, you will clearly find the great difference with this processor and its cache & pass).
and if you want to work on a 64bit operating system, you should do like Ahmed
Try a 64bit Linux operating system Like: Fedora Core 5 or 6 (as a RedHat product).
Finally i am so so pleased to write in my friend’s website [Ahmed Soliman]
I wish you great times…
