Struggling
This topic isn’t related to CAT series, it’s about me (directly me).
Guys, I’m really having hard times deciding whether I should resume my career life as a developer mainly or administrator. It’s really a hard choice and if you saw my “Resume” in the about section you’ll somehow understand why I’m confused about it.
My past experience and knowledge are hybrid between development (high-level and low-level), systems administration (Linux mainly) and Software Engineering/Architecture.
I always thought that it’s good to be a “joker” that can fit anywhere in the business market but nowadays I feel wrong, I need to focus on one thing, ONLY one because of the business requirements you must be devoted to one topic. Thank Allah that I’m not lost between different areas of science, but I’m lost between several field in IT.
My ultimate dream is to work as low-level systems programmer (kernel, drivers) and/or software architecture that works at awesome company like “Google” or “Sun Microsystems” (while I like google more 
).
Maybe soon I’ll start my first step and it’ll be announced publicly as part of my plan to go to google or any interesting company.
Please share my with ideas, suggestions and if you can find a good mentor for me please advice….

I think that the position of

not exist in egypt , so you have to search for a job abroad and it seems that is what you want although i dont like that .
I don’t know if you will be happy for working in High-Level programming and if there are a company in egypt is considered awesome for you .
بغض النظر عن موضوع انت هتشتغل فى مصر ولا بره اعتقد ان مجال البرمجة افضل على أساس ان مجال الإبداع و الإبتكار فيه أكتر ودايما انت بتعمل حاجة جديدة كل يوم على عكس مجال اللينوكس فانت بتلف فى دايرة مغلقة فانت بتلف فيها وتكرر افعالك عادة ممكن تكون الدايرة بتكبر بس ببطئ وكمان انت دايما ليك حدود متقدرش تتخطاها
انا عادة بشبه مجال البرمجة بالطالب اللى بيفهم و مجال الادمين \ اللينوكس ب الطالب اللى بيحفظ
تمرين
جيب ورقتين واقسم كل ورقة لعمودين عمود مميزات وعمود عيوب وورقة للبرمجة وورقه التانية للأدمين \ اللينوكس و ممكن بعد كده تقسم الورقتين نص علوى ونص سفلى العلوى ده وجهة نظرك والسفلى وجهة نظر الاخرين وبالاخص م.سينار على اساس ان ده قرار مشترك عشلان مصيرى

Well,
I think I’ll bias more towards programming as I do really love it, and it has more creativity and innovation. Administration is something I love too, but it doesn’t require that much of creativity. It requires somebody who is really smart and organized.
After all, I’m seeking for a programmer or software engineer under Linux generally these days.

as ahmed soliman elly ana a3rafo begad could make change in programming - as we still far i mean ahmed as i see him may be this is wrong -
you sometimes still user to alot of services and things in linux kernel and not yet be considered as developer of these serviices
please don’t be abgry with me for this opinion ,but i think ahmed soliman can do highly affected thing in programming more than Adminstration

Well,
I think your next step .. will be a temporary solution, But I also believe that there’s somewhere -a vacancy or chance- that can make full use of you !
PLUS
I really believe that having creative solution or systems like facebook, you tube, or Box.net needs creativity in the first place and you are talented and creative Masha2 Allah :).
Plus having background in variety of fields of IT will help you deliver a booming system like them , and you know that the skies are the limit !
I think the Idea worth thinking .. It’s all about community and creativity !
For now I recommend focusing on your next step .. focusing on the are between Linux and programming will -at least- satisfy your passion of programming without losing your linux
And you know what, the race we talked about …. unless it’s not fair to race with who already started 50 meters after the start point
.. and Fairness will reveal one day !!

Matbossh 3ala el modo3 dah 3ala enoh a7′tiar been 7agteen laken shofow 3ala enh tarkeba been 7agteen we enta bet7eb el shata aktar fe el akl wala el felfel . el etneen lozaz we beido lel akl ta3m . law enta eshta3′alt programmer dah ma3nah enak mosh lazem teseb el administration la2′en - and believe me - you will need system administration to prepare the system to hold your new top notch system, including configuring storage, network and helper daemons . of course the development to administration ration is 90 : 10 . but you still do administration. law enta eshta3′alt administrator you will still need development to write the administration tools which - I know that - you love it. but the administration to development ration is 90 : 10 . your problem now is , enat bet7eb el shata wala el felfel more in your food . ask your self this question . when you face an administration problem do you search the internet for a tool to solve this, or you just type “vi tool.cpp” in the command line .and then “gcc tool.cpp” . I know that you always go to the second choice .

I talked to you before, and listened to you explaining your problem, but I wasn’t sure of a definite openion to say … I think that I can’t tell you ” choose programming or admenistration “, but I can say ” choose the one that makes the maximum benefit of all your abilities, uses all your criativity and genious thinking, and shows all your talents and abilities ” …. Choose the one that shows all your special skills and experiences and makes the greatest benefit of them …
I can say also that there are two things should be taken into account while thinking …

First, your choise must achieve your final goals and ofcourse your dreams in the long run …

وهى انك المفروض تحدد الهدف اللى انته عاوز توصله
هل هوه المال او العلم او انك تعمل حاجه لمصر
فان كان غرضك هوه المال فالموضوع كده با سهل لانك هتعرف تحدد على طول ايه الاحسن وايه الاريح
