Can you believe that? It has been a little bit more than 5 years since I started working with CAT-Reloaded, or to be more specific, since we formed CAT-Reloaded, as CAT-Reloaded is only 5 years old.

It’s shocking to remember all what happened while being/working as CAT, we had GREAT times together and very HARD times together but what I remember most is what I’ve learned from being CAT and working in such an activity.

I wrote earlier some series called “My Story With CAT” but I didn’t have the chance to complete it, maybe soon, but what you are about to witness is the end of this glorious story.

After 5 years it’s important to see where I stand among my dreams and what were my goals regarding CAT and where is CAT now. As I can remember, I’ve changed alot with CAT and gained a huge experience from working with students as a student and as a tutor, but the most painful part is that I didn’t gain much of technical experience out of CAT as most of its members did.

Originally I joined CAT to be part of this historical idea, to create the smartest community in mansoura university and to achieve high level of technical competency that would be comparable to any foreign university, thus having better chances in the IT market after graduation and maybe changing the face of the computer technology in the world, quite optimistic, huh? :)

What became technically true is that we became a “community”, but to be honest almost nothing of my dreams became true during those 5 years, maybe we are still in progress but what I expect is not positive at all, because as time goes by, people become more careless and less conscious of their abilities and the most important part is that they became more “negative”, no body thinks about his future, no body has the ability to change his reality, that he is a complete idiot in computer science, except a very very small number of people of what I call “anomaly”.

We were ‘anomalies’ when we thought about a community like that but like most of Egyptians, we are infected with many social diseases that affected our steps to a better future, but we were really good because we could do what many people couldn’t and we could form a community that did a good effort to help others, to realize the reality that is the difference between normal engineering students in mansoura university are worthless in the current international market unless they prove to be otherwise.

We were anomalies because it’s hard to expect that a society like this produce such positive thinkers, and it’s very difficult to generate those anomalies again easily, but it happened and we had the chance to change the reality, but obviously we couldn’t.

We did good, I know :) but we didn’t reach the dream, we are not even close, but we did good, and we fought all our diseases and we could create a huge community so our words can be heard quickly but not necessarily effectively.

After surviving with CAT for a long time, I decided to form my own foundation, subsidry of CAT-Reloaded, it’s called H4ck3rZ, I did my best to formulate all my thoughts in that foundation and it was the most successful thing I ever did in CAT but original founders fade out and most of them left and again it’s affected by the fact that the current generation in the college have less anomalies than expected and the website of H4ck3rZ became “almost” dead!

I decided to leave H4ck3rZ management as I believe that I’m not as effective as before, I cannot refurbish H4ck3rZ, I don’t have enough power or time to keep pushing a close-to-death entity. I love startups, so I think I may start something else or maybe join another active community, I’m tired of being the only driving element in any community I join, I need to work with talented people so I can achieve my dreams to this country, I’ll not spend my whole life pushing a bunch of idiots, it’s more efficient to let them find their way with as little guidance as possible and start searching for new people. I need to work with people like whom I worked with before (Ehab Abdou, Ibrahim Abdel Fattah, El Sayed Gamal, Ahmed Abdalla, Samer Gad, Hatem El Sum, Hatem Mohamed, Yara, etc.) they were crazily active! (specially yara) and I was crazily creative at then.

Leaving H4ck3rZ management does not mean that I’ll stop supporting them, I’ll keep supporting everybody but just it’s more professional to work in a team where you can be as effective as possible, and staying effortless in a close-to-dead team is not good. If you are not going to work and you know that you cannot make the change, then LEAVE!, it’s non-sense that you stay neither working nor leaving!.

I’ll still work with CAT, but not strings attached.
